Sherri Braxton has been riding horses since her pre-teen years. While growing up, she was an avid equestrian riding in the hunter/jumper show ring as well as in interschool riding team and eventing competitions. She also competed as part of the Equestrian Club at Wake Forest University and came to TRRC in 2004 when her son began riding as part of his therapy program. Upon arrival, she first volunteered, then rode recreationally, and now serves as one of the riding instructors.

Bridget Foley started with TRRC in 2004 as a volunteer. Working with the horses has helped this instructor build confidence and become more successful in life.

Debbie French

BS Degree in Equestrian Studies, Riding Master III, PATH Certified Riding Instructor, Certified Centered Riding Instructor & Special Olympics Coach

Debbie started teaching at TRRC in 1986, she has loved every minute of it, everyone works together, supporting one another and in a positive atmosphere.  She has ridden since the age of 4 and has competed Hunter/Jumpers, Dressage up to Prix St George, and Evented. She has taken lessons from a few of the USET Olympians.  Currently she has 6 horses of her own at her farm, The Castle.

Corey began as support staff and enjoyed it so much that she decided to pursue becoming an instructor.

Lisa Henderson Sowers, MA/AGS, NASP

PATH Certified Riding Instructor & PATH Certified Equine Assisted in Mental Health and Learning (May 2019)

Lisa is a school psychologist that has provided a variety of services to students with special needs for 14 years.  She began riding horses in high school when she participated in local horse shows.  Lisa started as a volunteer for TRRC when her son began taking recreational riding lessons in the spring of 2013.  Since then, she has taken lessons in the recreational lesson program, continued as volunteer to support the therapeutic and recreational riders and participated Special Olympics.  Lisa became a PATH Certified Riding Instructor in June of 2015.  After receiving her additional certification as an Equine Assisted Specialist in Mental Health and Learning, she plans to offer lessons at TRRC that include equine assisted activities that teach students to manage stress, anger or sadness, to improve their social interaction skills, and to develop their overall skills for success in school.

Mary Murbach

Mary started riding at TRRC in 2005 with her daughter. She then began volunteering and enjoyed it so much that she decided to pursue becoming an instructor. It is a great joy to see how horses can change the lives of so many.

Ashley Whitlock

PATH Certified Riding Instructor & PATH Certified Mentor

Ashley began taking formal riding lessons at age 8, and has been addicted to all things horses ever since. She has trained in hunter/jumpers, dressage and low level cross country. Ashley came to TRRC in 2013 as a volunteer, and joined the staff in 2014. She certified as a PATH therapeutic riding instructor in 2015. 

Sarah Sustersich

PATH Certified Riding Instructor, PATH Certified Mentor & Special Olympic Coach

Sarah started as a volunteer at TRRC in 2002, and never left! She began teaching lessons in 2007, and became a PATH certified instructor in 2009. Sarah has also been the head coach of TRRC's Special Olympics team since 2009. She loves the horses and people at TRRC, and is thankful for the opportunities she has had to learn and grow as an instructor over the years! Sarah's horse Lucy lives happily at TRRC, her owner's home away from home.
