Located at 3750 Shady Lane in Glenwood, Maryland, the Therapeutic and Recreational Riding Center (TRRC) was founded in 1983 by Dr. Helen Tuel and her husband, John. TRRC is registered in Maryland as a 501-C-3 public charity, dedicated to providing therapeutic services to its special clients, young and old, in an all-inclusive environment. The Center has earned premier accreditation from the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, Inc. (NARHA) and is designated as “Premier Accredited Center.” It is certified “Best in America” by the Independent Charities of America (ICA).

TRRC’s mission is to provide both physical and occupational therapy on horseback, treating a range of physical, mental, and emotional disabilities including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular distrophy, post-traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, and cognitive disorders. It also provides recreational riding opportunities for clients, with and without disabilities.
